Choose your spirit

Ask your companions what kind of spirit they are in the mood for, but don't be afraid to follow your instinct and make a recommendation.

Pick the right blending water

A blending water is key to unlocking the true flavour potential of your chosen Spirit. Estuary Blending water comes in Whiskey, Single Malt and Coffee variants.

Do not add ICE

Melting ice cubes dilute your whiskey in unpredictable ways, leaving you with inconsistent flavour in every sip. More importantly, near-freezing can numb your taste bud.

Pre-Chill the bottle

Place the bottle of Estuary Bending water in the refrigerator and chill to around 8 degrees Celsius before serving. Avoid placing the bottle in the freezer as the water will expand and the glass may crack.

Pick the right glass

Pick a glass that will complement the drink. For whiskies and Single malts we recommend a broad bottom glass with a tapering top. This helps tunnel the flavours towards your nose and heighten flavour enjoyment.

Blend Gently

Using a metal or glass stirrer, gently mix the blend and then allow it to settle. This helps blend all the flavour-producing phenolic compounds but also allows the guaiacol to rise to the top of the glass, where it boosts olfactory stimulation during each sip.

Take in the Aromas

Taking a light whiff of the aromas of the drink before consumption heightens your flavour perceptions. This is termed 'nosing' and is can greatly elevate your drinking experience.

Savour Slowly

Epicurean culture is centered around prolonging the emotional enjoyment of food and drink. Armed with the right spirit, and blending waters that elevate the experience, you can begin to truly savour the pleasures of your lifestyle.

Set up 3 drinks

Select your preferred premium whiskey or single malt and prepare 3 drinks by pouring equal measures into 3 separate glasses. Do not add ice to any of the drinks

Glass 1 v/s Glass 2

Take a sip of the first glass (neat) and remember the flavor, Take a sip of the second glass (regular water) and compare the flavor profile

Prep for the test

Leave the first drink without water (neat), add ordinary water into the second drink and add the same amount of Estuary blending water into the third one

Taste it with Estuary

Finally, it’s time to taste the drink blended with Estuary. Swirl it around your tongue and evaluate the notes that hit the nose and palate. Dwell on the aftertaste, which drink allowed you to perceive a greater range and depth of flavours?
